Early in my journey into digital design, I collaborated with an augmented reality developer to create an experimental project that showcased the potential of emerging AR technology. With the support of Metaio, who provided access to their libraries, we developed a heartfelt and innovative experience inspired by the iconic hologram scene from Star Wars.
The project was a tribute to our beloved office dog, who had recently passed away and was featured in our company logo. I designed a postcard featuring the dog's image along with a heartfelt greeting. Using a dedicated app, users could scan the card with their camera to see the dog appear as a hologram, delivering a special message and even reacting by raising its ear. Users were also able to record their own messages to send along with the postcard, creating an interactive and emotional experience for the recipient. This way, they could see the dog come to life and deliver their personalized message.
At a time when AR technology was in its infancy, this bold experiment not only honored a cherished memory but also demonstrated the creative potential of digital innovation. The project gained attention and brought us new clients who entrusted us with digital assignments, such as building websites and creating other cutting-edge solutions.
